Laughing Yoga

Developed in 1995 in Mumbai by the physician Dr. Madan Kataria and his wife Madhuri, laughing yoga is a relatively new form of yoga. Laughing for no reason at all is purely a matter of practice, but it is easily learned. Combined with specific breathing techniques from the Pranayama practice of controlling the breath and an imaginary journey to a place of well-being, laughing yoga is an exceptionally effective relaxation technique, with all physiological and psychological advantages.

I am of Indian origin and would like to experience my “heritage” in my own way. As my own very personal Seva (service to society), I lead an open laughing club in Bonn every Friday. Attendees donate 5 Euros in the flower donation box. (For more information, see “free your laughing”).

The laughing yoga club can be joined regardless of religious orientation and independently of any coaching or psychotherapy that you may receive from me. The only requirement is that you sign a exclusion of liability with the contraindications, as recommended by the founders. I otherwise practice my spirituality privately.

Although I might tend to orient to the philosophy and teachings of Advaita Vedanta, I practice my beliefs without significant formalism, and I pragmatically draw from my cultural heritage what I think is good and enriching.
